A simple technique has helped me overcome insomnia (as of a week now). I know Vishnu Sahasranama by heart so after lying down I start mentally chanting it. Soon I doze off to sleep. As and when I wake up in the middle of the night I start it again. In addition to helping me overcome insomnia, it has also helped give me additional results like a sharper mind and the ability to handle things with more patience the next day. The only drawback I continue to notice is, eventhough refreshed I tend to wake up after 6 am. I am unable to wake up at 4 am or 5 am, without using an alarm clock.
